GODS WISDOM

James 1:5-8

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

God’s wisdom is  the ability to make wise decisions in difficult circumstances. Our wisdom does not come from Dear Abby, Dr. Phil.

If anyone lacks wisdom let him ask of God.

Prov 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. The important questions to ask when a trial hits us, “How can I understand this trial from God’s perspective? How can I navigate through this storm, in such a way as to bring glory to God? How can this trial help me grow spiritually.  WE MUST SEE OUR NEED FOR WISDOM, TO DRIVE US TO GOD WHO SUPPLIES THE NEED.

Prov 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. We must humble ourselves and admit that we do not know sometimes how to live joyfully in the face of trials.

1. KNOW THAT GOD IS THE SOURCE FOR ALL WISDOM.

In other words, if worldly “wisdom” contradicts or goes against God, it is false “wisdom.” Only God’s wisdom stands.God’s wisdom is  supernatural intelligence, the power to create and the eternal. Our all-knowing; all-seeing; all-powerful and eternal God has insight that man could never understand nor attain.

2.  KNOW THAT GOD REVEALS HIS WISDOM BY HIS SPIRIT THROUGH HIS WORD

Ps 119:105 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

God’s Word is a lamp, a light that illuminates the darkness. If we are following the light, we will see what the light reveals in the path ahead of us. If you are not spending consistent time learning God’s Word, you will not have the wisdom that you need when trials hit. The time to seek wisdom from God is before the calamity hits.

3. KNOW THAT GOD GIVES GENEROUSLY AND WITHOUT REPROACH TO ALL THAT ASK HIM IN FAITH.

God loves to give us good things, and that God loves to give us good things abundantly. He isn’t short on wisdom, and God never puts a limit on what you can have if you live in obedience to His Word. Ask in Faith. When we ask  the Lord for wisdom we must have the proper posture! We must ask in faith! There is no room for doubt.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Not to be double minded. In the Greek the word for “doubled-minded” literally means to be “two spirited”  being pulled in different directions. When you are doubled-minded you have two loyalties – two priorities. You are being pulled in two directions at the same time. It causes confusion. It causes disorientation. A double-minded person is restless and confused in his thoughts, his actions, and his behavior. Such a person is always in conflict with himself. Being double-minded blocks your prayers. It blocks your commitment to God. Indecision in your life keeps God from giving His blessing and it keeps you from receiving what God has for you. If you don’t believe God can – why would He?

Responsibility

It’s our responsibility to lead people to Jesus.  It’s Jesus’s responsibility to clean up His own children.

Eph 2.8-10

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Dad’s We Are Chosen To Lead

But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”  Joshua 24:15
